Artemis were commissioned in 2021 to prepare an LVA and Soft landscape scheme relating to the erection of one detached dwelling, garage and private garden on an area of mainly grassland on the southern edge of the village of Great Brickhill.

Whilst the proposals were designed to work sensitively with the existing landform;

‘The proposals are to build the property into the hill side within the northern half of the site. Two floors will be earth sheltered and are designed to integrate into the landform. The roof of the house will be at ground level when viewed from the north and the entrance. As the site drops down to the south, the southern elevation has been arranged so both floors, whilst earth sheltered on the northern, eastern and western aspects, are above ground level to the south, facing a private garden and the valley beyond. The garage is sited towards the north east of the house, adjacent to the eastern boundary, on higher ground. The proposals show the garage as above ground and to be built on the footprint of the existing single storey barn, close to the eastern boundary.’

the application was refused and went to Appeal. This appeal was dismissed in May 2023, however another Appeal in 2025 was allowed and planning permission was granted.
Artemis provided written support throughout the process.
