Working in association with Steve Jowers Associates and commissioned by Aston Clinton Parish Council, Artemis produced a soft landscaping scheme to compliment a new Community Centre in Aston Clinton Park.
The centre will replace the existing very popular ‘Your Café in the Park’,  the soft play, coffee shop and hall which are continuing to operate during the build, along with the football club, in a slightly different area of the Park. The building will comprise 2 storeys, with an upstairs function room & balcony looking across the Park, as well as a large multi-purpose hall downstairs.  The current Café and soft play will be staying, with another multi-use café/bar area upstairs, as well as accommodation for sports – showers and changing rooms, kitchen, serving areas and meeting rooms.  An upstairs terrace is planned with view looking across the park to the Chilterns.

The Community Centre was awarded a grant of up to £650,000 by AVDC’s New Homes Bonus scheme. This is a grant paid by central government to local councils, to reflect housing growth in their areas. In addition, the project has been allocated over £1m in contributions from developers, (S106 funding), along with some council reserves.

A focus of the soft landscape design was to offer some softening and integration of the building into its surrounding landscape, whilst retaining the views across the park, so small growing feature trees were selected, but also species that fare in the local clay soil.
The entrance to the building integrates safe bicycle parking and a focus on arriving.
The terrace looked to provide areas for toddlers to play safely and also for dogs to rest and refresh during exercise.

The building works are currently underway and are projected to take approximately 1.5 years to complete. Most recently Artemis has provided a Method Statement to protect a number of trees on the access to the site as services for the new building are implemented.
