Russett House

This was an exciting garden design project where the busy professional owners had spent many years bringing up their family, focussing on the house, and never quite got around to doing anything to the garden which served as a functional play space. The view of the surrounding countryside setting was the main feature.

As their family had grown up they were now keen to devote some finance and efforts to the garden.

A big priority was retaining the views and our aim was to enhance these so the two flowed seamlessly together.

Artemis worked closely in an iterative process with the clients, drawing up different concepts which were adapted following discussions.

An organic curvy design that moved from more formal nearer the house to a softer, wilder feel in the planting.

Creating tiers to the sloping topography expanded the space and created an ‘infinity’ effect with the landscape beyond. Evening sun was maximised with a seating area to watch the evening shadows falling across the fields.

Artemis sourced local contractors JT Landscapes who were great to work with and translated our design to the garden with extremely high quality construction and attention detail.
