Newnham Primary School, Daventry
The Friends of Newnham School asked Artemis to create an outdoor classroom for growing and learning on a small, currently underused banked area at the front of the school and rework ‘Katie’s Garden’ creating a secluded, quiet, sensory storytelling area.
The odd angles and gradient of the bank proved somewhat challenging, but children are now enjoying the extra play space and exploring growing with the gardening club.
During their first harvest of vegetables the Gardening Club cooked a meal for the whole school using the produce.
Comments
All of the children loved doing the gardening. They were so enthusiastic. Everyone had a really good day and the cabbage soup was delicious! We are a rural school and we want the curriculum here to reflect the type of school we are.
