The Butterfly World Project was a visitor attraction near St Albans in Hertfordshire dedicated to showcasing and promoting learning about butterflies. Unfortunately, it closed permanently in 2015.

The 27-acre site was designed in the shape of a butterfly. The first phase of the Butterfly World Project opened in 2009. It comprised the UK’s largest wildflower meadow designed by Ivan Hicks and 12 designer show gardens, chosen from 100 designs of which Artemis’ was one of the entries.

Although unsuccessful in our bid this time, the design we produced continues to inspire us and we hope one day to put this into practice.
